Neon Frenzy - Testing Feedback Devlog

This week was about getting a test build uploaded for a planned testing session. The idea behind the testing session was to get some overall feedback about the games and if possible then implement some of the feedback/suggestions. I wanted feedback about things such as the game concept, art and how it felt actually playing, so all the questions in my feedback form were related to these things.

Feedback/Bugs:

I will include some of the feedback in a condensed form in this devlog:

  • Player movement was fine, didn't seem too fast.
  • Shooting is bugged (I made most people aware of this before playing the build) - People suggested the reasoning behind the shooting not working is the bullets would direct towards the original world position.
  • Maybe add moving parts to level/s (moving doors/walls)
  • Giant neon explosion when an enemy "dies"
  • Player not taking damage (I also made people aware of this before playing)
  • Adjust the size of the player collision so the "hover" part of the player clips into the wall. (This will help with the player moving through corridors more easier.
  • More neon!

Plans/Last Updates:

Given the amount of time left to finish the game I won't be able to implement a whole bunch. My main priorities are fixing the shooting and player health as both are crucial to the gameplay. Otherwise I hope to have completed the main menu, added a soundtrack during gameplay, added neon explosions of enemy death and any other little bits before the due date. Of course I'll be taking into account some of the other feedback I got like adjusting the player collider .
