Neon Frenzy - Basic Level Blocking

This weeks checkpoint (week 8) was about level building/design. The aim was to show off as many levels in the build to get feedback on how the level is designed, how it will play and an idea of puzzles that could be implemented in the future. Not only that, placeholder objects/sprites were required to show off things such as doors, keys, buttons, etc.

Implementation:

Due to time constraints, the plan is too have 3-4 levels, slowly increasing in difficulty and complexity. On top of this, to keep with the neon theme of the game, each level has a colour used throughout with the tiles and enemies.

Level 1 - Fairly simple level, no puzzles and very few enemies. This is a good way to get a new player used to controls and get a feel before making the levels more complicated. This level has a orange theme to it.

Level 2 - Introduces puzzles in the form of switches that open up different areas of the map. Also larger "rooms" are introduced, these larger rooms will have more enemies however a larger area makes it easier to move around.  This level has a cyan theme to it.

Level 3 & 4 haven't been completed yet however they will just be slightly larger in size and difficult to the first two levels.

For my placeholders, I have triangle sprites for buttons/switches, the green tiles are where spawners will potentially be and the unique tile in between rooms are where doors will be.

- Spawner tile

        - Orange door

- Cyan door

Feedback:

This week I didn't receive a whole lot of feedback,  just a comment on my placeholders and visuals looking good. Since I didn't receive to much feedback its safe to assume that the overall design of my levels are decent and for the remaining two levels that have yet to be implemented will follow closely to the first two.

Next Week:

Next week (week 9) is a big checkpoint, enemies, interactions and puzzles. I already have the enemy sprite sheets, they just need to be animated in unity. Before the next checkpoint is due I hope to have finished my level design so I can at least make a start of the puzzles and interactions side of the levels to get some feedback on that.
